Grant Park Community Garden is located in the heart of the South Perry Neighborhood. We are committed to working with neighbors and local businesses to help families in our community have access to quality, inexpensive, whole foods.
Our goal is to make the garden a fun and accessible environment where we can gather to learn about gardening, sustainable living and growing food for our own tables. We have many different ways for you to get involved in your community garden.
Join our last garden tour of the 2018 growing season! We'll start with a special class on seed saving, tour the Grant Park Community Garden with garden manager Peggy Parker, and end with some refreshments. Come show your support of the Grant Park Community Garden after the recent demoralizing vandalism. We can't wait to celebrate the fall harvest with you all from 5 to 6 pm on September 20th!
During the half hour seed saving workshop, you'll learn the basics of selecting and saving seeds including:
why seed saving matters,
fundamentals of good seed saving (pollination considerations, how to maintain your crop’s genetics, isolation, population size, roguing, etc.),
simple seed cleaning techniques, and
storage techniques.
